Stay Healthy While At Work
Dated: February 16 2021
Whether you're working from home or back in the office, the workday can often get hectic, leaving little time to take care of yourself. However, your health and well-being are important, so taking the time to practice some self-care can help you stay healthy all winter long. Follow these tips during your workday to maintain good mental and physical health.
The first tip is to stay hydrated, which is important all year but especially critical during the winter months. This time of year brings cold, dry weather in many parts of the country, which means your body is craving moisture. Staying hydrated can also help boost your immunity, so drinking at least eight to 10 glasses of water every day can reduce your risk of illness.
Make sure to get up and walk around every few hours, too. If you tend to get lost in your work, set an alarm that goes off every two hours or so, which will encourage you to move around. As you walk around, stop by the restroom and wash your hands frequently to further reduce your risk of illness.
Stretching every couple of hours can also benefit your physical and mental well-being. You can stretch at your desk by reaching up and rolling your neck around for a quick pick-me-up.
Finally, the food you eat can contribute to your health, so choose plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats. Certain foods are linked to concentration, so if you're working on a tough project, you may want to munch on brain foods like blueberries, fish rich in omega-3 acids, nuts, and dark chocolate.
Take care of your body and mind to maintain your health throughout the winter months. Work can bring stress and make it difficult to care for yourself, but taking a few minutes each day for yourself can make a big difference in how you feel.Sources: Kiplinger.com, Monster.com
